Reports to: Commercial & Operations Manager.

Job Purpose: To ensure that customer enquiries are dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner. Assist the planner by routing the estimates accordingly.
By:
1. Producing Estimates setting out the relevant operations required to cost the manufacture of components/fabrications using appropriate software.
2. Obtain quotations from suppliers for appropriate outwork services to include material purchases, surfaces treatments and relevant tooling etc.
3. Assisting with preparation of Planning/Route Cards for correct Workshop Loading as and when required
4. Assisting with Procurement as and when required

The successful candidate will be either an experienced estimator working within a CNC machining environment or a time served machinist wishing to further their career and move into an office based role. Understanding the operations and processes required to produce precision made components is essential.
IT skills are a must, although training will be given with software.
You will be a confident individual comfortable dealing with customers and suppliers.

Basic hours – 39 per week although additional hours may be required to ensure that customer demand is met.
Sick pay - will be offered after a qualifying period.

Accounts/Administration Clerk

Job Description:
Efficient and prompt dealing of all administrative and accounts matters, specifically to -
1. Handle all tasks related to Sales Ledger, invoicing, debt chasing, using Sage Line50
2. Handle all tasks related to Purchase Ledger using Sage Line50
3. Complete daily tasks and reports as requested by the FD
4. Assist as part of a small team with the smooth running of all other office functions
5. Cover for other members of staff as required
6. Receive and direct all incoming calls
7. Open and distribute all post
8. Accomodate visitors
9. Ensure proper storage and retrieval of necessary data and documents
10. Handle some aspects of HR
11. Deal with all MD correspondence

Reporting to:
Financial Director with accounts issues and Managing Director for all other issues

Hours, Holidays & Remuneration:
39 Hours of work from 8.30 am 5.00 pm – Monday to Thursday (4.00pm on Friday)
33 days annual holiday including 8 days public holidays.
Remuneration commensurate with experience.

Office Administrator, Marion Wharf, has decided to retire after many years of loyal service to T & O. We wish her well in her retirement.

We are pleased to announce the implementation of a second shift, which will both help to improve customer service in respect of lead-times, and also help bring about productivity improvements.

Alister Thorne who initially joined us as a machine operator will be commencing a full time apprenticeship in September

We are delighted and proud to note that this brings the number of current apprentices within the company to three, and demonstrates both our commitment to training and the fact that we believe the youth of today have an important role to play in the future of British Engineering. We would particularly like to thank Neil Tobin and Yvette Witcombe of Northampton College, Dan Barker of Tresham College, and also Malcolm Healey of SEMTA for their support for our Apprenticeship programme.

Turnell & Odell Ltd. are continuing to invest in new technology and machinery with the purchase of -
a)' Preactor' Production Planning and Scheduling software that will enable better utilisation of people and machines, providing both an increase in productivity, and helping to ensure deliveries are out on time.
b) Goodway GA2800 CNC Lathe with Fanuc OiTC Control, and
c) Bridgeport VMC 600/30 XP with Heidenhain TNC410 Control

Both machines and new software will assist further in the development of T & O’s target markets.

Job Title - CNC Programmer/Setter / Turner

Job Description - CNC Programmer / Setter/ Turner (working on a range of Lathes with Fanuc Control)

We are precision engineers involved in prototyping and production of engineered parts including high performance car, commercial vehicle, motorsport, rail, renewable energy and aerospace applications. Achievement of growth targets requires the appointment of a CNC Programmer / Setter/ Turner as an addition to our team.

As a CNC Programmer/ Setter/ Turner you will be tasked with programming the Fanuc controls, setting tools and offset data and precision machining as required.

Additionally, you will be responsible for proof machining components, running machines and inspecting the parts that are produced. Working to tight tolerances, you will produce high quality components from customer drawings and sample parts. Working mainly with small batch production, speed and flexibility will be important in keeping the machines productive.

To be considered for this position, you must be apprentice trained, have experience gained within a similar role, programming, setting and using CNC Lathes Experience of CNC Lathes and Fanuc controls is essential.

As a CNC Programmer / Setter/Turner, you must have a good attention to detail, an organised approach and be accustomed to working with minimum supervision. Excellent communication skills are also key.

This is a full time position. Normal hours are 39 per week, and you will probably be required to work shifts. Overtime is available.

Both these positions require fully skilled engineers who are able to work from drawings and to own initiative in a busy sub-contract engineering works. Applicants will almost certainly be apprentice trained.

It is essential that candidates should be in good health, have a good timekeeping record, and should have good mobility in transferring materials to and from machine tools.

They should have the ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical terminology.

Communication skills within a team-working environment are a desirable asset, as is the ability to use initiative.

It is essential that the candidate has served a mechanical engineering apprenticeship, and a formal qualification would be desirable although not essential.

Although it is essential that the candidate is a fully qualified Turner, some training will be given in CNC control, and it is desirable that they have some prior knowledge of this.

Ability to work shifts is desirable, although not essential.
